The Republican nominee holds a modest edge in the MT-01 House race following the June 2026 primaries, which selected radio host Aaron Flint over other Republican contenders and smokejumper Sam Forstag on the Democratic side after incumbent Ryan Zinke announced his retirement. The western Montana district's established partisan lean favors the GOP, though the open-seat contest narrows the gap compared with prior cycles. Recent primary outcomes and candidate profiles have reinforced trader consensus around these probabilities, with the November general election still months away and subject to shifts from polling trends, turnout patterns, or campaign developments in this competitive battleground.
