Carlos Ulberg captured the vacant UFC light heavyweight title with a first-round knockout of Jiří Procházka at UFC 327 in April 2026 but tore his ACL in the process, underwent surgery, and is expected to miss the remainder of the year before returning in early 2027. With the champion sidelined, the division’s top contenders are sorting themselves out through recent bouts such as Magomed Ankalaev’s matchup against Bogdan Guskov and ongoing discussions involving former champion Jan Blachowicz and Paulo Costa. Ulberg has publicly floated potential paths including Ankalaev versus Procházka or Costa versus Khalil Rountree Jr., leaving multiple established veterans and rising options without a single dominant frontrunner. The clustered probabilities reflect this open field, where historical rankings, recent form, stylistic matchups, and UFC matchmaking preferences all remain fluid factors.
