Aguilar Cardozo and De La Fuente, South American alternates ranked outside the top 400 in doubles, advanced to the Asuncion 2 quarterfinal with a straight-sets win in the round of 16 on red clay and now face the second-seeded pair Basel and Carou. The seeded duo brings greater experience and a higher doubles ranking near 176, with Carou holding a career-high of 167, though recent form for both pairs has been mixed on the Challenger circuit. The matchup pits lower-ranked players showing momentum against established seeds in a home-region event, where surface familiarity and recent results will shape outcomes in this best-of-three-sets contest.
