Banxico’s unanimous decision to hold the policy rate at 6.50% at its August 6, 2026 meeting, combined with explicit forward guidance to maintain the current stance, underpins the 82% market-implied probability of no change at the November decision. July headline inflation eased to 3.12% year-over-year from 3.37% in June, moving closer to the 3% target while core inflation remains above 4%, and the central bank has highlighted upside risks from potential peso weakness, trade frictions, and persistent core pressures alongside downside growth risks. Analyst consensus and the Mexico-U.S. rate differential support keeping rates steady through year-end, with November’s outcome hinging on September-October CPI prints and any shifts in FOMC policy or MXN stability that could alter the balance of risks.
