Apple faces mounting U.S. government pressure against sourcing DRAM from blacklisted Chinese firm CXMT amid an AI-driven memory shortage, with the Trump administration explicitly urging the company to avoid such suppliers. While Apple has tested CXMT chips for potential use in China-only devices and held early supply talks, regulatory hurdles including licensing requirements and political sensitivities limit broader adoption. These barriers, combined with CXMT's Pentagon blacklist status, explain traders' strong consensus against meaningful 2026 purchases despite ongoing qualification efforts. Key near-term catalysts include any White House policy shifts or finalized supply agreements.
