Incumbent Mayor Mark Sutcliffe maintains a strong lead in Ottawa's October 26, 2026 mayoral contest, with trader consensus reflecting his incumbency advantages under the first-past-the-post system. A mid-April poll placed him at 46 percent among decided voters versus Jeff Leiper's 37 percent amid 48 percent undecided overall, yet the fragmented opposition—including Leiper, homebuilder Alex Lawson, and economist Neil Saravanamuttoo, who holds Catherine McKenney's endorsement—has not consolidated. Nominations opened May 1, enabling early challenger filings and announcements on transit reliability, housing affordability, and service delivery while Sutcliffe prioritizes governing before formally entering the race. Ongoing debates over projects like Lansdowne 2.0 further define the contest ahead of the vote.
