Major parties including Labour, the Conservatives, Liberal Democrats and Greens have opted not to contest the 13 August 2026 Clacton by-election triggered by Nigel Farage’s resignation, leaving Reform UK’s incumbent as the clear frontrunner in a field of 34 candidates dominated by independents and novelty entrants. Count Binface has drawn the bulk of remaining attention through sustained media coverage, prior high-profile runs and an explicit anti-Farage tactical-vote narrative, positioning the satirical candidate to consolidate the non-Reform share in a constituency long favourable to Reform. Trader consensus at 98.6% for Binface in second place reflects this fragmented opposition and the absence of organised party challenges. A late surge by another high-visibility independent or unforeseen turnout shift among protest voters could still alter the ordering.
