Recent developments in Georgia's 11th congressional district, an open Republican-leaning seat following incumbent Barry Loudermilk's retirement, center on the May 19, 2026, primaries. Multiple Republican candidates, including neurosurgeon John Cowan, Rob Adkerson, and Tricia Pridemore, competed in a fragmented field that historically raises runoff risks under Georgia's majority-vote primary rules. Cowan's early polling and fundraising lead, combined with endorsements from conservative groups, positioned him as the frontrunner, supporting trader views that he or another contender could clear 50 percent outright. On the Democratic side, Chris Harden secured a clear majority in a less crowded contest. The absence of major late shifts in voter turnout projections or campaign dynamics in this solidly Republican district reinforces the current market-implied probability of an outright primary winner.
