The San Francisco 49ers hold the clearest edge in this market because Brandon Aiyuk remains under contract with them following a fractured relationship that included his placement on the reserve/left squad list last December and the team’s decision to void his 2026 guarantees after he missed the entire 2025 season with a torn ACL. General manager John Lynch has repeatedly stated Aiyuk has played his last snap in San Francisco and urged other clubs to call about a trade, yet no deal has materialized in the weeks since the 2026 NFL Draft. Multiple teams, most notably the Washington Commanders, have shown interest in reuniting the receiver with Jayden Daniels, but the league-wide view that San Francisco will ultimately release him rather than receive compensation has produced a wide distribution of probabilities across roughly 30 clubs. This stalemate leaves the 49ers as the default landing spot until a trade or outright cut occurs before the September roster deadline.
