Cerundolo advanced to the Munich quarterfinals last week, defeating Sumit Nagal and Botic van de Zandschulp before falling to Alexander Zverev, showcasing strong baseline grinding suited to the high-altitude surface. Hanfmann, ranked No. 60, earned his spot with a gritty three-set comeback over Marcos Giron in R1 (6-4, 6-7(3), 7-5), but his early Munich exit tempers momentum despite a recent Santiago semifinal clay win over Cerundolo. No injury concerns reported for either; altitude and weather could amplify serving edges.
