Matej Dodig and Yi Zhou meet for the first time in the opening round of Roland Garros qualifying on red clay, where both players have limited recent ATP-level experience and similar Challenger rankings in the low 200s. Dodig arrives with recent clay-court wins at the Split and Zagreb Challengers in March, though he fell in straight sets during his most recent Zagreb outing, while Zhou has shown mixed results on the circuit, including a loss in the Tunis Challenger. The slow, heavy conditions at the French Open qualifiers typically reward consistent baseline play and endurance, factors that could favor the player who better handles the surface and manages early-match nerves in this best-of-three encounter.
