This run has restored momentum and confidence, with key contributors like Sam Walsh, Patrick Cripps, and Francis Evans performing strongly in attack and midfield. Carlton also expects returns for forwards Will Hayward and Nick Haynes from ankle issues, bolstering their lineup for the elimination clash. Melbourne, by contrast, dropped their Round 24 MCG encounter to the Western Bulldogs, landing them in the wildcard matchup and exposing vulnerabilities. Fresh injury concerns cloud their preparations, with Jake Lever (toe) and Matt Jefferson (knee bone bruising from hyperextension) facing fitness tests, while Jacob van Rooyen remains suspended. Though the Demons retain home-ground familiarity and ruck strength from Max Gawn, their late-season dip and depleted key personnel have tempered market confidence relative to Carlton’s surging trajectory. The contest pits the Blues’ current momentum against Melbourne’s venue edge in a high-stakes knockout setting.
