The just-announced 2026 Emmy nominations have created a near-deadlock in Outstanding Variety Series, with The Daily Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and Saturday Night Live all listed as frontrunners at comparable implied probabilities. Colbert’s show enters its final season with a record nine nominations overall, giving it a strong narrative tailwind, while SNL leans on its unmatched legacy and consistent guild recognition. John Oliver’s HBO series benefits from critical depth and fewer episodes, and The Daily Show gains from Jon Stewart’s high-profile return. Jimmy Kimmel Live! rounds out the field with steady topical appeal. The September ceremony and any late guild or critics’ signals could still shift the tight trader consensus.
