Recent ADP data showing private-sector hiring slowed sharply to just 44,000 in July—well below the 70,000 consensus—has anchored trader expectations for July JOLTS job openings near 7.4–7.6 million. This follows June openings at 7.4 million, down from 7.6 million in May, amid broader labor-market cooling evident in moderating quits and stable layoff rates. With the report due September 1, market-implied odds cluster tightly around these levels because incoming payrolls, wage-growth trends, and Fed communications offer limited clarity on whether demand will stabilize or edge lower. The distribution reflects uncertainty over how much the recent employment miss will translate into vacancies, keeping resolution sensitive to any revisions or August indicators.

The resolution source for this market will be the BLS Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey report released for July 2026 (https://www.bls.gov/jlt/), currently scheduled to be released on September 1, 2026, at 10:00 AM ET. Resolution of this market will take place upon release of the aforementioned data.
Note: the resolution source for this market will be the official monthly JOLTS report, which reports job openings in thousands of openings. If the information is not released by that time, this market will resolve according to the figures of the most recent previous month with available data.
