Diverging expectations for Federal Reserve and Bank of Japan policy paths keep Polymarket odds closely balanced across the 140-170 USD/JPY range for the end-2026 close, with the 140-150, 150-160, and 160-170 bins each commanding roughly one-third of the probability. The pair trades near 159 amid a still-wide interest-rate differential that supports dollar strength, yet forecasts from major banks span 150-164, reflecting uncertainty over the pace of BOJ normalization, potential Fed easing, inflation trajectories, and global risk sentiment. Recent yen stabilization and moderating structural outflows add to the contest, while upcoming CPI releases, labor data, and central-bank communications through year-end remain the primary catalysts that could shift the market-implied distribution.
