Mao Mushika enters the first-round matchup against wild-card Yu-Chen Lin at the W35 Taipei as the stronger favorite, backed by her recent hard-court results in Japan and established ITF experience. The 20-year-old Japanese qualifier has posted multiple wins in the lead-up events, including straight-sets victories over lower-ranked opponents on the same surface, reflecting solid recent form and match readiness. Lin, a 16-year-old Taiwanese junior ranked outside the top 1,000, receives the home wild card but brings far less senior-level exposure and limited documented results against comparable competition. Hard-court conditions favor the player with greater consistency and physical conditioning, areas where Mushika holds a clear edge based on her schedule and head-to-head patterns at this level. Traders price in the experience gap while noting that early-round upsets remain possible in ITF events when younger locals capitalize on crowd support or opponent rust.
