**Apple's testing of CXMT DRAM and early supply talks for China-market devices reflect efforts to ease memory shortages driven by AI demand, but substantial regulatory, political, and commercial barriers keep a 2026 purchase unlikely.** CXMT, China's leading DRAM producer and fourth globally, sits on the Pentagon's 1260H military company list, prompting Apple to lobby the White House for clearance while restricting potential use to China-only products. Recent reports (July–August 2026) confirm qualification testing across iPhones and MacBooks plus preliminary discussions, yet no deal is finalized, prices match established suppliers like Samsung or SK Hynix, and U.S. lawmakers have urged restrictions. These factors—export controls, national security concerns, supply-chain qualification timelines, and lack of confirmed approvals—drive the 72.5% market-implied odds against purchases occurring this year, with resolution hinging on any last-minute regulatory shifts before year-end.

This market will resolve to "Yes" if Apple or an official representative of the company announces that it will use, purchase, or source memory chips from CXMT by December 31, 2026 ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No".
A qualifying announcement made within this market’s timeframe will suffice for a "Yes" resolution regardless of whether or when CXMT subsequently supplies Apple.
This market will also resolve to "Yes" if it is otherwise confirmed that Apple purchased, agreed to purchase, entered into a supply agreement for, or began sourcing any products or components from CXMT by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from Apple and/or its official representative; however, a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.
