Jesper de Jong arrives at this Roland Garros qualifying second-round clash on clay after a composed first-round win over Fajing Sun, prevailing in two tiebreaks with solid serving and improved movement on the red dirt. The Dutch player, currently ranked around 109, has shown positive clay form in Rome qualifiers earlier this month despite a main-draw loss to Nuno Borges. Liam Draxl, ranked near 171, brings momentum from reaching the Australian Open main draw in January but arrives off a straight-sets defeat to Emilio Nava on clay in Oeiras. Their only prior meeting came on hard courts in 2025, where Draxl prevailed; the slower surface here may highlight de Jong’s baseline consistency and footwork while testing Draxl’s recent clay results and recovery from travel.
