Richard Vereš leads the market for Ostrava mayor at 59.5% as leader of the ANO candidate list ahead of the October 9-10, 2026 municipal elections, when the new city council will select the mayor. His position draws from ANO's strong regional performance and Vereš's role as district mayor of Slezská Ostrava, positioning the party to regain the post lost in 2023. Incumbent Jan Dohnal heads the rebranded srdcOVA coalition of ODS, KDU-ČSL, TOP 09 and independents, while other lists feature Ivana Lucáková Nesétová of Naše Česko, Aleš Boháč of Starostové pro Ostrava, Lukáš Semerák of Ostravak, Matěj Gregor of Motoristé, and Rostislav Řeha of Piráti. The multi-party field and coalition negotiations after the vote sustain uncertainty, with council seat totals and post-election bargaining likely to determine the outcome.
