Carlton enters the AFL wildcard final as slight favorites due to its late-season surge under coach Josh Fraser, including an unbeaten run of five matches and strong recent results such as the win over ladder-leaders Fremantle. The Blues have shown improved ball movement, efficiency, and defensive structure across the past 14 games. Melbourne, by contrast, arrives with disrupted momentum after a Round 24 loss to the Western Bulldogs and significant injury concerns, with Jake Lever (toe) and Matt Jefferson (knee) facing late fitness tests. Additional Demons absences, including the suspended Jacob van Rooyen, compound selection pressure ahead of the sudden-death clash at the MCG. These factors underpin the market's narrow edge for Carlton in a tightly contested elimination game.
