Alison Jarman holds the strongest position in the Devonport City Council mayoral race as the current incumbent seeking re-election on October 27, 2026. Her ongoing leadership on budget measures, including a proposed 4.75 percent general rate increase for infrastructure like a new indoor sports stadium, and efforts to address childcare shortages through new centers have reinforced her visibility ahead of nominations opening on September 7. Steve Martin, a sitting councillor and prior mayoral contender, trails notably in trader pricing. With the Tasmanian Electoral Commission overseeing the postal vote and multiple candidates expected once nominations begin, the market reflects Jarman’s established record and limited recent challenges from other contenders.
