Recent boycotts by Dutch broadcaster Avrotros and Ireland’s RTÉ, citing ongoing concerns over Israel’s participation amid the Gaza conflict and perceived lack of neutrality, represent the main catalyst shifting trader focus on Eurovision 2027 participants. The contest heads to Burgas, Bulgaria, in May 2027 after Dara’s 2026 win, with Canada making its debut following EBU membership and North Macedonia returning after a four-year absence. Participation applications closed September 15, 2026, with a mid-October grace period for penalty-free withdrawals, while roughly two dozen countries have confirmed intent so far and totals near 40 are anticipated. EBU rule updates barring armed-conflict winners from hosting add another layer of uncertainty around final lineups.
