The New York Yankees enter the Toronto series with a strong 42-27 record atop the AL East, while the Blue Jays sit at 34-37 and eight games back in third place. The teams split the first two contests at Rogers Centre, with Toronto taking the opener 8-5 behind homers from Kazuma Okamoto and George Springer plus Alejandro Kirk’s three-hit return from injury, before New York responded with a 3-1 win capped by Paul Goldschmidt’s ninth-inning tiebreaker. Both clubs face roster challenges: the Yankees are without starter Max Fried (elbow) and center fielder Trent Grisham (hamstring), and Toronto continues to manage absences including Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (back) and Daulton Varsho (wrist). Pitching matchups, bullpen availability, and Toronto’s home-field edge remain key variables for the remaining games.
