Tim Walz remains Minnesota governor with his term ending January 2027. The dominant factor shaping trader views on any resignation timeline is the ongoing fallout from widespread fraud in state social service and child-care programs, which prompted Republican calls for his departure and led him to drop his 2026 re-election bid in January. Walz has repeatedly stated he intends to complete his term and focus on fraud prevention measures. Congressional oversight reports and hearings have kept scrutiny high, yet no new legal or political developments have altered his position. With the 2026 gubernatorial primary approaching and no scheduled votes or deadlines forcing a change, markets reflect low implied probabilities of an early exit absent major unforeseen events such as indictments or health issues.

If it becomes impossible for Tim Walz to resign or to announce his resignation (e.g., due to his removal from office by other means, etc.), this market will immediately resolve to "No."
For this market to resolve to "Yes," it is only necessary that Tim Walz announce that he has resigned or will resign. Whether he actually resigns will have no bearing on the resolution of this market.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the US federal government or the government of Minnesota; however, a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.
