In the ongoing Super Chess Classic Romania, a deep field of elite grandmasters keeps the 2026 Grand Chess Tour title race unusually tight after early rounds. Vincent Keymer leads the implied probabilities on the back of his round-two win over Deac and prior strong classical results, but co-leaders Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave sit close behind following decisive victories that included ending Javokhir Sindarov’s long unbeaten streak. Anish Giri, Jorden van Foreest, Wesley So, and Fabiano Caruana remain within striking distance thanks to consistent draws and head-to-head history in similar round-robin formats, while lower-rated contenders like Alireza Firouzja and Bogdan-Daniel Deac trail yet retain upset potential over the remaining classical games.
