The 28-year-old Russian brings proven ATP-level results on slower surfaces, where his baseline consistency and endurance have produced strong head-to-head trends against younger opponents. Mark Lajal, the 23-year-old Estonian ranked around No. 157, counters with solid 2026 form across hard and clay Challengers, yet lacks comparable major-tournament seasoning. No confirmed injuries or late withdrawals have surfaced for either player, leaving the outcome centered on Safiullin's experience advantage versus Lajal's improving movement and shot-making in what projects as a competitive three-set battle.
