Jannik Sinner holds a commanding position against Daniil Medvedev in their Italian Open semifinal, leading 6-2 5-7 4-2 before rain suspended play with Medvedev serving in the deciding set. The world No. 1 has extended his Masters 1000 winning streak to 32 matches while chasing his first Rome title and a career Golden Masters, though he has battled visible fatigue and received treatment for thigh cramping. Medvedev, back in the Rome semifinals for the first time since his 2023 victory, showed resilience by rallying from a set down in his quarterfinal and maintains a competitive head-to-head record on clay. The surface favors Sinner’s baseline consistency, yet the overnight delay and Sinner’s physical condition introduce uncertainty for Saturday’s resumption, with the winner facing Casper Ruud in the final.
