Recent chart tracking shows a tight battle for the Billboard Hot 100's second spot the week of August 15, driven by sustained streaming and sales momentum from established hits alongside newer releases. Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drop Dead,” out since April as the lead from her third album, and Ariana Grande’s “hate that i made you love me,” the May single from Petal, lead the implied probabilities through strong platform data and fan engagement, while Ella Langley’s country crossover “Choosin’ Texas” benefits from prior #1 precedent and consistent airplay. Taylor Swift’s “I Knew It, I Knew You” and Morgan Wallen’s “Been By Now” add further pressure via catalog strength and genre-specific surges. With no single dominant track and weekly metrics fluctuating, traders weigh upcoming radio updates and any last-minute promotional spikes that could shift positions before the chart locks.
