Recent National Weather Service forecasts and model consensus indicate a high near 68–71°F for New York City on September 21, driven by northerly to northeasterly winds of 10–15 mph behind Sunday’s frontal passage and associated rain. This onshore flow off cooler coastal waters, combined with increasing cloud cover and only limited afternoon clearing, caps daytime heating while keeping values close to seasonal normals. Slight variations in the timing of any partial sun or lingering moisture create the narrow spread between the leading 68–69°F and 70–71°F bins, with lower probabilities assigned to outcomes outside this range reflecting the tight clustering of guidance. Updated model runs and NWS briefings over the next 48 hours will likely refine these temperature thresholds ahead of market resolution.
