Pete Crow-Armstrong holds the top position in the 2026 WAR race at 7.9–8.6 per major models through late August, driven by elite center-field defense (top-percentile Outs Above Average), 33 home runs, 32 stolen bases, and a .276/.374/.550 slash line for the Cubs. Shohei Ohtani trails at roughly 7.0 WAR after his last pitching appearance in early July due to left-knee soreness, capping two-way value despite strong hitting. Bobby Witt Jr. sits near 6.1–6.3 WAR with consistent Royals production, while pitchers including Jacob Misiorowski, Cristopher Sánchez, Chris Sale, Cam Schlittler, and Dylan Cease range from 4.5–5.6 WAR amid strong but narrower contributions. Trader consensus reflects PCA’s sustained lead and remaining schedule edge over a month of play.
