Incumbent Mark Sutcliffe maintains a leading position in the 2026 Ottawa mayoral race ahead of the October 26 vote, supported by his established record and the fragmentation of challenger support. A July Liaison Strategies poll showed him at 36% among decided voters, ahead of homebuilder Alex Lawson at 26% and city councillor Jeff Leiper at 25%, with 34% overall undecided. Sutcliffe’s personal numbers have softened from earlier surveys, yet the split between Lawson’s emphasis on housing and development and Leiper’s progressive council platform has prevented consolidation of anti-incumbent sentiment. Nominations close August 21, and recent exchanges over infrastructure projects such as a potential ring road have highlighted policy differences without shifting the overall positioning reflected in trader consensus. Catherine McKenney and Neil Saravanamuttoo register minimal support consistent with narrower bases.
