Drake’s surprise release of Iceman on May 15 has generated massive first-week projections of 480,000–520,000 equivalent album units, according to Hits Daily Double, far outpacing any competing projects and locking in near-certain trader consensus for a Billboard 200 debut at No. 1. The rapper’s dominant streaming numbers, combined with the simultaneous drop of two companion albums, have created an overwhelming lead in pre-chart data that historically translates to top billing. With the tracking week ending May 21 and official rankings due shortly after, the only realistic path to an upset would require an unprecedented late surge from another release, something that has rarely overcome a 480K+ opening in recent years.
