Matej Dodig faces Yi Zhou in the first round of Roland Garros qualifying on clay, marking their first professional meeting with no prior head-to-head record. Dodig arrives with stronger recent momentum, posting an 8-3 mark over his last 11 matches across surfaces, while Zhou has struggled with a 2-6 record in his most recent eight outings. Both players sit near the 200-220 ranking range, making the matchup a test of current form and clay-court adaptation rather than established pedigree. Dodig’s experience in Challenger-level events on the surface could provide an edge in baseline rallies and movement, though Zhou’s youth offers upset potential if he finds early rhythm. The outcome hinges on serving consistency and error management in the best-of-three format, with the winner advancing toward main-draw opportunities.
