The 30-year-old South Korean has competed steadily on hard courts in 2026, mixing ITF M25 events with occasional Challenger appearances and a Davis Cup tie, though recent results include a straight-sets loss in the Tokyo draw itself. Imamura, currently ranked around No. 436, has posted consistent results at the ITF level, including a first-round win over Yusuke Takahashi in the same M15 Tokyo event and prior semifinal clashes against Chung in May 2026. Both players favor hard surfaces, where Chung’s superior experience and power baseline game contrast with Imamura’s solid recent form and familiarity with lower-tier Asian circuits. The outcome hinges on Chung’s ability to maintain physical consistency versus Imamura’s momentum in the draw.
