Lim Jonghoon enters as the clear top seed and higher-ranked South Korean left-hander with a strong recent record in WTT Contender events, including straight-set and five-set wins during the Zagreb 2026 main draw. Wim Verdonschot, a Dutch player seeded ninth, has shown competitive form by advancing through qualifiers with gritty five-set victories but faces a significant gap in world ranking and international experience against elite opposition. The indoor hard-table format and best-of-five or seven structure favor the favorite's consistency in rallies and serve-receive, while any upset path for Verdonschot would require exploiting potential fatigue or unforced errors from the higher seed. No major injuries or late withdrawals have been reported for either player heading into their scheduled encounter.
