Yordan Alvarez currently leads MLB with nine intentional walks through roughly 70 games, narrowly ahead of Nick Kurtz at eight and Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani at seven, keeping the full-season market tightly bunched among Alvarez, Kurtz, Juan Soto, and Ohtani. These elite sluggers draw IBBs due to their power, on-base skills, and protection or lack thereof in lineups, with early 2026 trends showing Alvarez and Kurtz benefiting from strong batting-order spots and opposing managers pitching around them in key situations. Soto and Ohtani remain close despite varying team contexts, while Trout's consistent plate discipline sustains his contention. The race stays fluid because IBB totals hinge on game state, bullpen usage, and hot streaks rather than raw talent alone.
