Yordan Alvarez holds the MLB lead in intentional walks this season with roughly double the total of any other hitter, reflecting his sustained dominance in on-base percentage and slugging while batting in high-leverage spots for the Astros. Pitchers continue to issue free passes rather than challenge his power, a pattern consistent with his elevated OPS rankings and recent multi-hit games. Nick Kurtz trails in second among Athletics regulars, benefiting from strong early production as a young first baseman, yet remains well behind in cumulative IBB volume. Other contenders like Shohei Ohtani and Juan Soto post solid counts but lack the same frequency of intentional avoidance, leaving the current trader consensus centered on Alvarez's established edge through the final two months.
