Recent National Weather Service and model guidance point to a backdoor cold front arriving Monday, shifting winds easterly and introducing 40-50% chances of showers and thunderstorms that could reduce afternoon insolation and cap the daily maximum. This follows several days of 96-99°F heat, with the front expected to moderate conditions into the mid-80s—near Atlanta’s long-term early-September average high of 85.5°F. Key variables include exact frontal timing, cloud thickness, and convective initiation, all of which can shift realized highs by 2-4°F. Updated short-range model runs and NWS briefings over the next 48 hours will likely refine these probabilities for traders.
