A backdoor cold front arriving after an unusually hot early-September period has emerged as the dominant driver behind Atlanta's projected minimum temperature on September 7, 2026. Official National Weather Service and private forecasts converge on overnight lows in the upper 60s to low 70s, with most guidance centering near 70–71 °F as drier, easterly flow replaces humid southerly air. This represents a notable departure from the 90s highs and mid-70s lows of the preceding days, though lingering afternoon convection and variable cloud cover introduce modest uncertainty in the precise overnight minimum. Historical climatology places the September 7 average low at 68 °F, providing context for why market-implied probabilities cluster tightly around the 70–75 °F bins. Fresh model runs and NWS updates through the weekend will likely refine these ranges ahead of resolution.
