Hayato Matsuoka holds the edge in the Astana Challenger semifinal on hard courts due to his higher ranking near 314, stronger recent challenger results including a straight-sets quarterfinal win over Fajing Sun, and youth at age 21. Khumoyun Sultanov, ranked around 508-513, advanced with solid wins in the draw such as against Mert Alkaya but enters with less consistent form overall. Their only prior meeting ended in a lopsided Sultanov victory on clay in 2024, so the hard-court surface and current momentum shift trader consensus toward Matsuoka as the favorite while leaving room for Sultanov's experience to influence set outcomes in a closely contested semifinal.
