Jia-Jing Lu enters the ITF W35 Southaven first-round matchup as the clear favorite, holding a WTA ranking near 375 compared to Piper Charney’s position around 1030. The 36-year-old veteran brings greater professional match experience and recent ITF consistency, while the 21-year-old Charney is transitioning from a strong NCAA career at Michigan into the pro ranks. Both players compete on hard courts with limited head-to-head history, and no confirmed injuries or withdrawals have altered the draw. Traders weigh Lu’s edge in ranking points and match toughness against Charney’s potential upside in an early-round setting.
