Maya Joint faces Liudmila Samsonova in the round of 32 at the 2026 National Bank Open on hard courts in Toronto, where Samsonova holds the sole head-to-head win from Wimbledon 2025. The higher-ranked Samsonova enters with stronger recent hard-court results, including a straight-sets victory over Barbora Krejcikova and four wins in her last five matches overall. Joint, a qualifier ranked outside the top 70, has built momentum with three consecutive victories in the event, highlighted by a straight-sets upset of Sorana Cirstea. Surface and experience favor Samsonova, though Joint’s current form and home-continent comfort create a competitive matchup where recent performance trends weigh heavily on trader assessments.
