Tatjana Maria and Mananchaya Sawangkaew meet in the Newport WTA 125K semifinal on grass, with the 38-year-old German veteran holding a ranking edge at No. 96 against the Thai No. 164. Sawangkaew enters with strong recent momentum, including a solid Wimbledon showing and a 5-1 grass record in 2026, plus straight-set wins over Caroline Dolehide and Lea Ma in Newport. Maria has navigated her side of the draw effectively with victories over Olivia Lincer and Katherine Sebov, drawing on her extensive grass-court experience and recent Eastbourne final appearance. Neither player has faced the other before, making recent form, surface adaptation, and physical freshness the primary drivers ahead of the July 11 match.
