The race for second place in the October 5 Quebec general election remains closely contested between the Quebec Liberal Party and the Coalition Avenir Québec. Recent Léger polling shows both parties tied near 23 percent, with the CAQ registering gains amid new leadership under Christine Fréchette and ongoing consolidation of federalist support. Regional variations, including competitive three-way races in Quebec City and suburban Montreal ridings, combined with high undecided voter levels near 47 percent, sustain uncertainty over final positioning. Traders appear to weigh these factors alongside the Parti Québécois provincial lead and the fragmented non-sovereigntist vote when assessing probabilities for the runner-up outcome.
