Silver prices have traded in a volatile $76–$88 per ounce range through mid-May 2026, pulled lower by hotter-than-expected April CPI data that reduced near-term Fed easing odds and supported a firmer U.S. dollar. Persistent structural deficits—projected at over 46 million ounces for a sixth straight year—continue to underpin the metal, driven by surging industrial offtake from solar and electric-vehicle sectors that has depleted above-ground stocks. Traders are now focusing on upcoming U.S. inflation releases and any signals from the May FOMC meeting, as further dollar strength or reduced rate-cut expectations could cap upside while sustained demand growth supports a floor near recent lows.
