Gold prices have surged above $4,580 per ounce as of August 21, 2026, extending a rally fueled by a weakening U.S. dollar near three-month lows and the Treasury's midweek announcement doubling long-dated bond buybacks to at least $4 billion per operation. This fiscal liquidity support has eased yield pressures and amplified safe-haven demand amid heightened Iran sanctions risks and elevated oil prices near $86–93. Traders are monitoring the breach of the 200-day moving average near $4,514 for technical momentum, while recent strong U.S. services PMI data and mixed FOMC signals keep September rate-hike probabilities in play. The upcoming week features potential volatility from macro releases and any Jackson Hole commentary that could shift real-yield expectations or dollar sentiment.
