Argentina’s 55-man preliminary squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, announced May 11 by coach Lionel Scaloni, has sharpened focus on final roster decisions ahead of the June 1 deadline. Lionel Messi remains the central figure at age 38, included alongside established starters such as Emiliano Martínez, Cristian Romero, Lisandro Martínez, and Enzo Fernández, while Ángel Di María and Paulo Dybala are excluded. Traders are monitoring recent CONMEBOL qualifier form, club minutes, and any late injuries or suspensions that could prompt further changes to the 26-player group. Scaloni has historically favored continuity from the 2022 champions while integrating emerging talents like Alejandro Garnacho and Gianluca Prestianni, making squad spots highly sensitive to performance in the coming weeks.
