Thomas Tuchel will announce England’s final 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup on May 22 after submitting a 55-player provisional list earlier this month. Recent friendlies against Uruguay and Japan offered the last direct audition for fringe players, with Tuchel resting several established starters and highlighting fitness concerns around key figures such as Bukayo Saka and John Stones. Premier League form, positional depth at full-back and midfield, and injury recoveries remain decisive, while the manager’s preference for balance between experience and emerging talent shapes selections. The short window before the June 11 opener in Group L leaves little margin for late changes once the roster is locked.
