Anthropic’s recent Claude Fable 5.1, Opus 5, and Mythos 5 releases have driven the leaderboard to 64.5–65% on the 2,500-question expert-crafted Humanity’s Last Exam benchmark, outpacing Meta’s Muse Spark 1.1 at 62% and OpenAI’s GPT-5.4 Pro at 58.7% as of mid-September 2026. Rapid gains from sub-5% at launch in early 2025 reflect advances in chain-of-thought reasoning, tool integration, and adaptive scaffolds that better handle multi-step expert problems across math, physics, and humanities. Competitive pressure among frontier labs, combined with monthly HLE-Rolling updates that maintain difficulty, suggests further upside before year-end if new model versions or agentic workflows ship. Trader consensus on the highest 2026 score therefore centers on continued Anthropic leadership and the pace of verifiable capability jumps rather than saturation.
