The Yankees (42-27) enter the rubber match at Rogers Centre holding first place in the AL East, while the Blue Jays (34-37) sit third and trail by several games. New York took yesterday’s contest 3-1 behind strong pitching and timely hitting to even the series after Toronto’s 8-5 win on June 12. Today’s matchup features Yankees right-hander Will Warren (7-1, 3.41 ERA) against Blue Jays starter Patrick Corbin (2-3, 4.55 ERA). New York’s outfield depth has been tested by Trent Grisham’s recent hamstring strain and catcher Austin Wells’ placement on the 10-day injured list. Home/road splits and divisional play add context, with the Blue Jays seeking to avoid falling further behind in the standings.
