Close competition for Spotify’s #2 global artist in 2026 stems from tight year-to-date streaming totals, with Bad Bunny holding a slim lead while Taylor Swift, Drake, Bruno Mars, and The Weeknd cluster just behind in the low-to-mid billions. Traders price multiple contenders near even odds because six months remain for new releases, tours, and viral moments to shift momentum, echoing 2025 patterns where consistent catalog plays and regional strength decided final rankings. Factors such as Ariana Grande’s and Billie Eilish’s recent album cycles, Justin Bieber’s monthly-listener surge, and potential Ed Sheeran or Eminem catalog spikes create swing potential, while historical precedent shows late-year drops or breakthroughs can reorder the top five. Key catalysts ahead include mid-year chart updates, major single drops, and any surprise collaborations that could consolidate streams among the frontrunners.
